About McPherson Eye Care
McPherson Eye Care, LLP started in 1989 by Tammy Odle Goering, OD and her cousin, Jan Turnbull Hageman, OD joined her in May 1995. McPherson Eye Care moved to the current location in September 1995.
McPherson Eye Care is located at 1323 East First in Sunbird Estates Professional Park. We are just east of the intersection of First and Maxwell which is near The Cedars and McPherson High School.
We have convenient front door parking along with two examination rooms that allow for patients to remain in their wheelchairs for examinations. Evening hours along with Saturday appointments are available.
Our Doctors
Dr. Kristen Becker
Dr. Becker grew up in Chapman, Kansas. She attended Cloud County Community College and Tabor College, graduating with a B.A. in Chemistry and Biology and track & field honors.
Dr. Kristen Becker completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in 2018. She practiced in McPherson and Salina for 4.5 years before joining McPherson Eye Care in January 2022.
Dr. Becker enjoys when patients better understand their ocular health and obtain improved clarity and visual comfort from an option prescribed. She is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, involved in the local church and McPherson Area MOMS.
In addition to practicing optometry, Dr. Becker enjoys gardening, planting trees and spending time outdoors with her family. She resides in McPherson with her husband, Dakota Becker. They have two daughters (Belle and Brooke), 2 dogs, 3 cats and chickens!
Dr. Tammy Odle Goering
Dr. Goering was raised on a farm between Stockton and Phillipsburg and is a graduate of Kansas State University. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1989. Dr. Goering established her family eye care practice in McPherson in the fall of 1989.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Kansas Optometric Association, served as past president of the Eye Care Council, and is serving as treasurer of the South Central Optometric Zone. She was honored to be selected “Kansas Young Optometrist of the Year” in 1997. In 2013, Dr. Goering earned her Diplomate status from the American Board of Optometry. Dr. Goering has also served on the McPherson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, The Cedars Board of Directors, and was Board Chairman of the McPherson Healthcare Foundation.
Dr. Goering and her husband Greg, a McPherson native, enjoy living on and operating the family farm including cattle and crop production. They have two children: Trenton and his wife Danielle and a daughter Taylor and her fiancé Cole.
Dr. Jan Hageman
Dr. Hageman grew up in Stockton Kansas and graduated from Kansas State University in 1983. She received her Doctor of Optometry Degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1987. She practiced in Wichita for eight years before joining Dr. Goering and forming McPherson Eye Care in 1995.
Dr. Hageman is a member of the Kansas Optometric Association, the American Optometric Association, and received her Diplomate status with the American Board of Optometry in 2013.

Marlene Vickrey
Office Manager
Marlene Vickrey grew up in Kanorado, Kansas. She began her career in the optometric field in 1982 and joined McPherson Eye Care in 1997! Marlene received her Associates of Applied Science degree at Colby Community College and became a Certified Paraoptometric Technician in 1984.
Marlene was honored as “Kansas Paraoptometric of the year” in 1999. In 2003, she earned certification as an optician by the American Board of Opticianry. Marlene believes continuing education is important, whether in person or online! She recently completed a 6-month Management Development Program.
Marlene has served as the Office Manager of McPherson Eye Care’s outstanding team for over 25+ years! Among all other management duties, Marlene leads, teaches and develops staff members to ensure patient satisfaction and personal growth. She loves optometry and the many different facets and opportunities that come with it! “It’s rewarding to be able to make a difference in someone’s sight and life.”
Marlene enjoys scrapbooking, flower beds/yardwork, cooking/baking, traveling and nature. She and her husband, Brad, have two cats: Chloe and Gigi.
